The finalists for the Prison Officer of the Year 2009 awards have been announced.
Now in its eighth year, the prestigious awards ceremony honours those members of staff who are consistently achieving an exceptional standard of work throughout the Service.
The awards have once again been a success, and with contracted prisons taking part in the nominations process for the first time this year, 637 nominations were received, beating last year's record.
The winner from each category will be announced at the awards ceremony next month, where one overall winner, chosen by Director General Phil Wheatley, will be awarded the acclaimed title of Prison Officer of the Year 2009.
